Ive got a project this year to whittle ornaments for the Peregrine Shop Christmas Tree! This little shop is all about community and what better way to finish the year than with a tree full of pieces this community has created. If you'd like to help me whittle something to add (It can be as simple as you like..the dodgier the better!) - these 2 blocks are free (limit one lot per customer).

This is a carving wood from Indonesia called Jelutong. Nice and soft, its ideal for working with your carving knife, or simply just to model with sandpaper.

I recommend using a Morakniv 120 knife for wood carving, which can be found on our website and, as always, to whittle with a pair of cut resistant gloves.

Our Jelutong is purchased from a small Adelaide family business, the wood cut in our Adelaide Hills workshop by Peregrine Store. Contact us if you’d like a custom shape cut!
